Purpose for choosing this particular piece:  The Bride’s traditional garb, and sombre expression is a reminder of the many similarities that South-Asian and Maghrebi weddings share with each other. The title reflects the celebratory ululation that takes place in these weddings; where the women of the house partake in all such festivities and the Bride sits in the midst of it all, ‘decorated’. 

Gossamer pink sweeps the hard granite floor,

in the stillness of the stars; a sea of belly rolls.

Chalk-white skin dabbled with rouge,

painted lips and a frantic deluge...
